Jan Homburg

Jan Homburg is a research associate in the project “Intercultural Perspectives, Social Media and the Press”. Within the scope of the position, his field of expertise ranges from conducting big data analysis, composing in-depth research reports to developing applicable communication strategies. During his undergraduate studies with a major in information management he was selected for the “Diversity Initiative” scholarship program funded by the German-American Fulbright Commission to visit the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Jan Homburg specialized in the fields of participatory communication and connected internet technologies in the context of his graduate degree in media and information sciences at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. He also worked for NBC Philadelphia where he was placed as a fellow in an exchange program initiated by GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit). During his career he also joined Apple and a German software company to diversify his skills before taking part in a research project about the influence of social media on brand management in a renowned communications agency called Richards Partners in Auckland, New Zealand. While pursuing his studies, Jan Homburg received several other grants to engage in international projects and seminars in Alpbach (Austria), Chicago (USA) and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania).
